Jesus said, “I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). Here at Bolton Villas, we believe that’s great news!
We believe that:
We believe in one God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit, three in one, the three persons of the Trinity. We believe this to be who God is. He is the Creator, Giver of life, all things hold together in Him. He is the one who reaches out to us with love and compassion, all we have to do, is respond to His love. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end.
We believe God loves and cares passionately for all human kind, and that the natural human condition is that of a broken vessel. If we are all made in the image of God, then whatever sin has done to us there is still something of the nature of God in each of us. The trouble is, is that sin has made a mess of us. As Paul said in the letter to the Romans:
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
We believe the mission of the Church is to proclaim ‘The Good News’ which is the glory of God revealed in Jesus and through the Bible, God’s Word.
We believe Jesus to be fully God and fully human, God incarnate. He was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Jesus of Nazareth, His story from conception to the cross and on to resurrection and ascension, the friendships, the relationships, the accounts of His words and actions all show and move us toward a greater understanding of who God is. Since God Himself has chosen to reveal Himself to us in and through Jesus, it is only through Jesus that God can be truly known. He is the Redeemer. The one who has brought and bought our salvation. He stood in our place and suffered death so that we could know and be known.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
We believe the Church is the vehicle through which God chooses the gospel to be proclaimed and practiced in, through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is God’s gift of Himself to us; The Holy Spirit was poured out for all on the day of Pentecost and we believe the person of the Holy Spirit to be shown through the evidence of the gifts and fruit of the Spirit. He has been described as the Comforter or Enabler, for the building up of the whole church.
