The beard and hair have gone!

Our Senior Pastor, Ashley Evans has had a dramatic change to his appearance this weekend when he shaved off his hair and beard in order to raise money for Christians Against Poverty (CAP) who preached at Bolton Villas in February 2021.

You can watch the video of Ashley’s head shave, as well as see before and after pictures on our Facebook page.

If you would like to find out more about the work of CAP then please visit their website.

Christmas Services 2020

We are pleased to announce that this year we are offering two Christmas Eve Communion Services. The first one, starting at 3pm will be family-orientated, with the second service starting at 7pm. Both services will be relatively short in duration (30 minutes maximum).

Due to the Coronavirus restrictions in place we would ask everyone interesting in attending to book place(s) by clicking on one of the following links:

We also request that everyone who attends should bring sufficient bread and wine/juice with you for you/your family.

Our Christmas Day Family Celebration will take place at 10.30am on Facebook and YouTube. Links for the service will be posted on our Facebook and YouTube channels nearer the big day.

Please also note that there will be NO service on Sunday 27th December 2020.

Hope and Joy

We’re now in one of the most important seasons of the Christian year, Advent, a time when we remember that God sent his Son to earth, born as a baby boy in a stable in Bethlehem. We celebrate Jesus’ birth, we celebrate the Saviour of the world coming to earth as an ordinary human baby.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace. Romans 15:13

As we gear up to celebrate Christmas in this most difficult and strangest of years, we pray that everyone will be filled with hope and joy. We pray that God will give you a peaceful, love-filled, joyous Christmas.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace. Romans 15:13.

Hair Today… going now.

Hair Today... Gone Tomorrow picture collage

So the hair cut & head shave are happening this afternoon 26th April 2020. Justin is doubling up with his mum who has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing Chemotherapy and as such her hair is falling out. Getting it shortened will make it simpler to deal with.

Justin is also going to get his hair cut, and his beard & head shaved today after he has been growing it since Movember.

The reasons behind this hair loss are to raise awareness of the youth work at Bolton Villas Family Church and emerge, as they both support young people they have regular contact with, in new and different ways at this time. So please dig deep and support them as they going through this hair loss experience.

You can review the Bolton Villas and emerge Facebook pages for pictures of both events, please don’t forget to support us by visiting: https://donate.giveasyoulive.com/fundraising/hair_today_gone_tomorrow_again

Hair Today… Gone Tomorrow Update

The current Coronavirus pandemic has not deterred Justin from continuing with his fundraising efforts to raise money for youth work at both Bolton Villas Family Church and emerge. The picture below shows the growth so far.

Justin’s fundraising page on Give As You Live is still active, and we would encourage you to consider donating money to both these worthy causes. We do of course, realise that we live in difficult times and as such want people to give as they are able to.

If you are confused as to what this is about, look back at the entry on 7th March 2020 to find out more.

Easter 2020

We may not be able to meet in person, but our hearts are very much open. As our thoughts turn to Easter please do consider joining us for one of our online events. God bless.

Hair Today… Gone Tomorrow. Again!

One of our members has gone all hairy in order to raise money to support Youth Work taking place here at Bolton Villas Family Church as well as for emerge in Bradford. Justin has been growing his hair, beard and moustache since doing Movember in November 2019 and plans to have it all shaved off nearly 7 months later in May 2020.

Justin’s fundraising page on Give As You Live gives more details about the work he is aiming to support as well as providing some increasingly hairy pictures of the man in question.

This isn’t the first time Justin has gone bald in aid of Bolton Villas as he did something similar in 2009 when we were raising money for a re-building project. However this particular campaign is proving to be more hair-raising than previously as we’re currently speculating as to whether the beard will be long enough for plaits!

So, please do support Justin’s fundraising campaign by visiting his donation page and supporting both these wonderful causes (even if we do say so ourselves!).

Thanking you in advance.

Encounter Night

Our next Encounter Night will take place on Friday 28th February starting at 7.30pm. As always it will be a wonderful opportunity to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to hear from God as He speaks to us. Please do consider joining us as we seek to encounter the Living God.

Month of Prayer

During January 2020 we will be spending the month focused on prayer. As well as our regular Sunday services we will also be holding some daily open prayer meetings. We’re going to be asking God to cleanse us and refresh us.

Why? Because we believe God has spoken to us. We believe He has given us a prophecy.  We believe He is telling us:

It’s not working.
Lay things down.
Come to Me in prayer
and see how I will restore you.

We believe God is calling us to spend time praying and listening to Him.  We must therefore be obedient.

You are very welcome to join us in prayer, either virtually or in person. As part of our month of prayer we have also put together a Prayer Diary of Bible verses that we’ll be praying through twice a day. If you would like a copy then please email [email protected].

It’s Christmas!

The season of advent is now upon us, the time when we as Christians remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago and prepare ourselves for when he will come again in glory.

Here at BV we’re gearing up for this wonderful and joyous season, the Christmas decorations are up, our Messy Christmas event has taken place and tomorrow sees our traditional Christmas carol concert with the Hall Royd Band. Here’s a glimpse of what else we have going on this Christmas.
